Editor/Communications Manager – South Dakota Rural Electric Association – Pierre, SD – SDREA, a member services organization for South Dakota’s electric cooperatives, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Editor/Communications Manager in Pierre, S.D. The successful candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of mass media and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also have a superior ability to write and edit in a journalistic style that is customary to external publications. Responsibilities include supervising the production of a monthly publication for member cooperatives, coordinating and managing SDREA communications, developing and implementing an annual budget for the Communications Department, preparing news releases, working with committees and member cooperatives on education and informative messages, designing various forms of print communication and maintaining the association’s web page. This position will require a self-motivated and organized individual with the ability to work independently and efficiently with deadlines. A college degree in mass communications, journalism or related field with an emphasis on written and oral communication and /or equivalent work experience is required. Experience in publishing and the use of Adobe design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Bridge is required. Experience in supervising and business is preferred. Temporary Substation Utility Assistants (2 positions) – East River Electric – Madison, S.D. – We are seeking two temporary substation utility assistants to work with the substation department beginning in May 2023. One position will assist in the installation, maintenance and testing of substation apparatus and motor operated switches. This role will travel to the various work sites with the crew and is eligible to work up to 1000 hours. A technical degree in power line construction or electrical utilities and substation is required; a valid driver’s license is required and a CDL is highly desired. The second position will assist with the maintenance activities for regulators and transformers, including the testing of oil samples and associated records management. This role works mostly in the Madison facility and is a summer internship position. Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in an electrical utilities and substation technology program. A valid driver’s license is required.
