This executive leadership role works collaboratively with the board of directors and staff to develop and lead the strategic vision for the cooperative. The successful candidate will have the ability to take a broad scale, long-term planning approach to understand the challenges facing the cooperative while focusing on the needs of the member-owners. Candidates should have proven leadership, communication, management and technological skills necessary to meet the challenges of the future. A strong commitment to serving the member owners and the ability to work effectively with the 9-member elected board of directors and while providing positive leadership to the employees is required. Cooperative experience and demonstrated commitment to the cooperative values is preferred. Key requirements include solid knowledge of electric utility operations with a degree in an appropriate field of study. Progressively responsible experience with an electric cooperative is preferred. Electrical Engineer, Power – Rushmore Electric – Rapid City, S.D. – Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative is seeking an electrical engineer with a power emphasis who will assist in delivering engineering services to our member cooperatives. The job could entail distribution and transmission line staking and design, substation design, system planning, system sectionalizing and inspection of new construction. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum is required. Additional requirements for this position include but are not limited to: sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals with the ability to apply them to real-world applications; strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite; strong work ethic and organizational skills; and ability to work both independently and in a team. Some overnight travel maybe required. Candidate must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship. Preferred qualifications are as follows: 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering for medium power distribution systems; successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred; ability to obtain a professional engineer (PE) license; working knowledge of codes, standards, laws and regulations applicable to the power industry; and AutoCAD skills.
