Local Students Selected to Represent Southeastern Electric at 2025 Youth Tour
Each year, Southeastern Electric Cooperative sponsors high school students on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Over 1,800 high school juniors and seniors travel to Washington, D.C. in June to participate in the Rural Electric Youth Tour. During the week, they learn about Washington, D.C., government, cooperative philosophy and rural electrification. The students are selected and sponsored by their local rural electric cooperatives.
Some of the sites that are toured include the Lincoln Memorial, National Cathedral, The White House, Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, Ford’s Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Smithsonian, Iwo Jima Statue, National Archives, U.S Supreme Court and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Let’s meet our 2025 representatives!

Her favorite book and movie are from the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire. She plans to pursue internships to gain experience in fields she is interested in to decide on a career path. Jordin is looking forward to learning more about grassroots politics while attending Youth Tour.
“I can’t wait for the trip in June and am very grateful for the opportunity to go to Washington, D.C.,” said Jordin.

Emma is the chapter Vice President of FCCLA, a member of the National Honor Society and served on the student council. She also has a passion for community service. Emma founded the Royal Ball, an event that brings joy to children while also raising funds for the non-profit organization Santa and Mrs. C’s Kids, which helps families in need during the holidays.
Emma plans to become a radiologist and will pursue a biology major with a pre-med track next fall. “I am most looking forward to visiting the National Cathedral and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during our trip,” shared Emma. “The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier represents so much about sacrifice, honor and the bravery of those who served, and I think being there in person will be a deeply meaningful experience.”
