Notice: Billing Date Changing

NOTICE: BILLING DATE CHANGING

Starting in April, we will be sending your monthly electric bill a few days later. This will begin with your March electric usage which is billed in April.

How will this affect me?
Beginning in April, you will receive your monthly electric bill a few days later and your due date will be later as well.

What is the new due date for paying my electric bill?
Beginning in April, the new due date will be the 22nd of each month instead of the 17th.

What if I pay my bill automatically through SmartHub?
If you set up automatic payments through the SmartHub app or website (called a recurring ACH payment), you do not need to make any changes to your payment. The app will automatically update to reflect the new due date and pay your electric bill on time.

What if I pay my bill through my bank instead of through SmartHub?
If you set up automatic payments through your bank, called an online banking interface or OBI, and want to change the payment date, you will need to contact your bank to make the change.

Why is Southeastern making this change?
We are making a change to our billing process to better serve our members, particularly those with accounts affected by peak demand charges—such as irrigation, 5/7 and market rate load accounts. A portion of these bills are based on East River Electric’s monthly demand peak, which isn’t finalized until the fifth business day of the following month. Currently, our billing process takes place on the first and second business days, meaning we sometimes need to send corrections if the initial peak estimate is incorrect. This has been happening more frequently, leading to confusion and frustration. By adjusting our billing dates, we can ensure accuracy before sending bills, eliminating the need for corrections and making the process smoother for everyone.
