Southeastern Electric Cooperative Honors Employees for Years of Service
Southeastern Electric Cooperative (SEC) honored six employees and two board members for their years of service.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to these employees and board members for their dedication and contributions to Southeastern Electric,” said Chad Kinsley, CEO of Southeastern Electric Cooperative. “I appreciate their commitment to our cooperative and our members.”
Jason Peterson, Alcester crew foreman, celebrated his 45-year work anniversary. Peterson began his career at Lincoln – Union Electric Cooperative (which merged with Turner – Hutchinson Co-op to become SEC in 2000) in October 1979. “I never intended to be a lineman. I thought I would return to the farm, but life had different plans for me, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” shared Peterson. “Working at SEC has been more than a job to me. This is my family. My crew are like sons and brothers, and I enjoy coming to work each day. I have the best job in the world.”
Over the years, Peterson has witnessed several changes to the cooperative and the utility industry. “Safety has always been a priority, but the equipment, procedures and policies have improved throughout the years,” explained Peterson. He shared that the changes, such as paper to iPads and radios to cell phones, have been fun to be a part of. He enjoys learning and growing with the cooperative and his fellow employees. “We are here to learn from each other and teach and lead our crews to continue the success of our electric cooperative,” said Peterson.
